Yup, I’m going there! Cheeseburger Pie is an amazing combination of two of my favorite guilty pleasures…how can you not love it?!
The total prep time for this was about 15 minutes, so still doable for those “running around like a crazy person” evenings when schedules are packed!
We used ground beef for this one, but for a low fat version you could definitely substitute ground turkey instead, it will be just as delicious!
1/lb ground beef
1 frozen pie shell
1 small onion, chopped
2 tbsp chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese
3/4 cup shredded cheese
1 tomato, sliced
pinch of salt and pepper
Step 1: Cook the ground beef and chopped onion in a pan until browned.
Step 2: Drain and add worcestershire sauce, chili powder, and garlic powder. Stir well.
Step 3: Scoop ground beef mixture into pie shell.
Step 4: Mix egg with cottage cheese and pour on top of ground beef in pie shell.
Step 5: Add salt and pepper to taste.
Step 6: Sprinkle shredded cheese all over pie and top with tomato slices.
Step 7: Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
I enjoyed eating this just as it was, the seasoning gives it tons of flavor. But Maddie and my hubby couldn’t seem to get past the fact that it was, in fact, Cheeseburger Pie….so they smothered it in ketchup in mustard! The choice is yours!
I’ll definitely be adding this to our “family menu” since it turned out amazing and was super easy to make!
